Fairytale Hydrostatic Pressure & Foundation Stress Simulator
Explore what can happen when water arrives faster than a drainage system can remove it.
Illustrative scenarios—not a diagnosis. Rainfall and an assumed drain-efficiency percentage cannot establish the pressure or structural safety of your foundation. The levels below are demonstration labels, not measured conditions or validated engineering thresholds.
Move right to reduce assumed efficiency. This is a scenario setting, not a measurement of your drain. Even an operational drain may be undersized or have an unsuitable outlet.
Hypothetical water input, not a rainfall forecast, millimetre measurement or groundwater reading. Duration, soil, grading and other water sources are not modelled.
Stress Report
This lowest demonstration setting is not a safety clearance. Existing defects or groundwater can still cause problems.
Actual pressure and structural risk: undetermined.
Fully operational drain and light-drizzle scenario selected.
Possible consequences & signs to observe
These are warning signs to discuss with a professional, not a sequence that every foundation will experience.
Weeping tile backup
No backup is assumed at this setting. Actual pipe condition, capacity and the outlet still require investigation.
Hairline concrete fracturing
Fine cracks can have several causes, including shrinkage; this tool cannot attribute them to water pressure. Photograph new or changing cracks, note any moisture or offset and arrange an appropriate assessment.
Active basement leaking
The baseline does not rule out leakage. Water may enter through joints, cracks or other building details even when a drain operates.
Severe structural bowing
Wall bowing is not predicted here. If you see bulging, displacement or progressive movement, keep clear and seek prompt structural assessment regardless of the slider settings.
Visible movement or immediate danger? Keep away from the affected area. A qualified structural or geotechnical professional must assess stability; a drain camera cannot do that. Call 911 for immediate danger. Do not enter flooded spaces near electrical equipment.
What the report calculates—and what it cannot
For learning only, the controls select four demonstration bands. A scenario index is calculated as (rain setting + blockage setting) ÷ 2, with extra emphasis on their overlap: index = 0.5 × average + 0.5 × (rain × blockage ÷ 100). Bands below 20, 20–44, 45–69 and 70–100 select Safe, Warning, Critical and Structure Failure Risk illustrations. These arbitrary bands are interface choices, not engineering or failure thresholds. The index is not a probability, force or pressure measurement.
Actual hydrostatic gauge pressure is P = ρgh: water density × gravity × retained water depth. This widget has no measured water depth, soil profile, storm duration, drain capacity, wall dimensions, reinforcement or material condition. It therefore provides no kPa value, structural stress calculation or safety determination. A 100% slider setting cannot certify capacity, and a 0% setting does not prove physical pipe failure.

No live data, sensor readings or personal information are collected. All interaction runs in your browser.
Camera inspections can help investigate accessible drains and blockages. Technical investigations are paid services; suitability, scope and charges are confirmed before booking.
